NEW ZEALAND: Petrolheads

I'M AT: Pat's place in Albany, although we've just got back from two nights at the Forest & Bird cottage near Onetangi Beach on Waiheke Island - a spartan place with wooden floors dating from a time when wooden floors weren't fashionable, a breakneck driveway, vehement recycling instructions, and millipedes dripping out of the showerhead. Glorious bush and a wonderful island though.

Driving back to Pat's this afternoon, we passed a burning car on the opposite lane. It was hugely aflame. Naturally enough you wonder what's happened, whether the driver managed to park up and flee in time. There was nothing on the local news about it this evening.
